Skincare Brand Doubles Revenue to ₹72 Crore as Premium D2C Beauty Gains Momentum

Mumbai-based skincare startup ClayCo raised ₹34.59 crore, approximately $3.7 million, in Series A funding led by Twenty-Nine Capital Partners Ventures, with participation from ICMG Global Ventures.1 The capital accelerates product development, category expansion and working capital strengthening as the brand scales rapidly within India’s evolving premium beauty segment.

Founded in 2023 by Niharika Jhunjhunwala, ClayCo positions itself as a premium skincare brand merging traditional beauty ingredients with modern scientific formulations.2 The brand blends global beauty traditions, particularly Japanese skincare heritage, with Indian consumer preferences and emerging market dynamics.

ClayCo demonstrated exceptional growth trajectory, with revenue scaling from Rs 5 crore in FY24 to Rs 33 crore in FY25, reaching Rs 72 crore in FY26. This 14x revenue growth over two years positions the brand among India’s fastest-growing premium skincare players, indicating strong consumer acceptance and repeat purchase behaviour validated through direct-to-consumer and marketplace channels.

The company sells through its D2C platform, marketplaces including Nykaa and Amazon, and quick commerce channels.3 Product range priced between Rs 600 and Rs 1,300 emphasises formulation-led differentiation with globally benchmarked scientific standards. Popular offerings include science-backed serums targeting specific skincare concerns using innovative ingredients and clinical validation approaches.

Series A capital will fund product portfolio expansion into body care and hair care categories, transforming ClayCo from focused facial-care brand into comprehensive personal care ecosystem. Supply chain strengthening and inventory management improvements support rapid scaling across retail channels.4

This funding follows October 2024’s first external investment of $2 million from Unilever Ventures, demonstrating both angel and institutional investor conviction in ClayCo’s market opportunity and execution capability within India’s growing premium beauty category.5
